Coastal Scents Mineral Eyeshadow "Touched" Swatches and Review.

Hi girls :)

Today i'm going to review Coastal scents Mineral eyeshadow in "Touched".

Haha..you'll know why i wrote that ;D

Price: price of sample: $0.95 = INR 45 approximately., Price of full size: $7.95 = INR 376 approximately.I got this sample free with my order :)

Finish/Formula: Pearl/soft shimmer.

Packaging: It comes in a teeny tiny plastic jar which is always such a pain in the #$$ to open! Please CS! change this packaging!

Size comparision with a 50 paise coin.

Colour description: It is a beautiful light lavender colour with pink pearl/micro shimmer which gives a soft duochrome effect.

  

General thoughts: This is a loose mineral eyeshadow which means that you need to have patience and practise to work with it.And now, this particular eyeshadow,demands both of these quite strongly! Because,It is quite sheer and will not show up unless you use a heavy base that grabs it and intensifies it.It does not adhere well to the skin when used without a sticky base.It's staying power is also based on the 'base' you are going to use.If you use a lighter non sticky/creamy base then it won't last longer than an hour and if you use a heavier sticky/creamy base then it's lasting power can be increased up to 5 hours or more.

Final thoughts: This shadow did not touch my heart..it touched only my eyes by it's beautiful colour(This explains what i wrote on the picture :D).If you are someone who lacks patience, then stay away from this one and if you have loads of it,then happily go ahead and buy this.But i personally would buy this again mainly because of the beautiful colour and also i think i do have a bit of patience to work with it. :P :D

Swatches:  The first pic shows you the soft pink duochrome effect and the second one shows you the true intensity of the colour.It was so difficult to capture both of them in one pic.

RESCUE TIME: Revive your dried out gel liner.

Hello friends.. :-)

Each one of us would've rescued someone/something from various troubles at various times.So i thought 'why not start a section to rescue makeup/beauty products' and here it is: "RESCUE TIME" :D Under this section i will be going to show you how to rescue a product which met with an accident or nearing the end of it's life :P :D

Today let us rescue a dried out coastal scents gel liner(for review click HERE ) and bring it back to life.I know there are a zillion ways to do this i.e., using inglot duraline and similar liquids/sealants,putting eye drops and contact lens solutions,microwaving and etc.,etc., But i didn't have any of those so i found out another way which i was easily able to do..All you need is a "hair dryer"! yes! a hair dryer is all you need.. :-)

This is how the gel liner looked liked when it dried out:

Take the hair dryer and your dried out gel liner..put the gel liner jar on a heat tolerant surface(cardboard,wood,cloth and etc.,).Switch on the dryer and make sure that it is in lowest heat/speed option possible..Heat the jar from all the sides(except for the upper part..because lid is made of plastic) for about 5 mins and then open it to check if the sheen is back or not(also try applying on hand with your brush to check the consistency).If you are not the happy with the outcome then repeat the heating process untill you are satitsfied that the desired texture is back.Make sure that you do not exceed 10 mins or else it will get over heated and it's texture may get ruined forever.

This is how the gel liner looked after the whole process:

Observe the sheen on the surface.(sorry about the mess..i was checking the consistency by dipping a brush in to it :P).It is back to life and it applies just as it did when it was new! smooth and buttery!yaaaay! :D

Don't worry if it dries out once again..just repeat the heating process and it will be back to life.. :-)

This is a simple 'no goop no mess' method of reviving a gel liner.Hope this helped.If you know any other way to revive the gel liner then please share below :-))

Coastal Scents Gel Liner Review

Hi everyone.. :-)

I bought this gel liner from coastal scents nearly a month ago. So here is the review:

Shade/colour: True black (a deep matte black)

Price: 6.95$ / INR 310 (approximately)

Weight: 3 gms/0.11oz

So this is how the packaging looks like:

The texture of the gel liner is smooth and buttery and is highly pigmented <3. See how black it is:

Left: single stroke,Right: heavy and thick swatch(pic taken indoors in natural light)

Glides very easily on the lid and dries down to a matte finish.staying power is quite good..almost 8 hrs! It doesn't smudge but it flakes off if you rub your eyes even just a li'l! If you don't do that then there is nothing to worry about.Everything was well and good until one day when i opened it to find it almost dry!!! see the pic below and observe the sheen on the surface..

I think this happened because of the bad designing of the jar..coz my maybelline gel liner is in perfect condition even after a long time(will do a comparison post soon).The liner was all lumpy and crusty when i tried to pick it up on a brush.I lost all hopes of  being able to using it again..But i found a way to revive it! will tell you how in the next post :-)

Pros:
       * Very pocket friendly price.
       * Quantity is huge.
       * Superb pigmentation.
       * Good staying power.
       * can be used on waterline too.(test it first if you have sensitive eyes)

Cons:
        * Dries out super quickly in the jar.(altleast in my case it did)
        * Dries out super quickly on the lids too.so you gotta work superfast while working on the eyes.

Review & Swatches: Coastal Scents Mirage Palette

Hello everyone :-)

So today i am reviewing coastal scents palette "mirage" which was a new addition to the coastal scent's palette family.

Price: 24.95$ which is nearly INR 1,108(without shipping)

No.of shadows: 88.

  I don't know why i chose this palette instead of all the other colouful ones! I loooove bright colours like crazy and this one falls more on the "neutral" side.It looks quite colourful in the video which is embedded on that page and those colourful looks decieved me! Anywayz..I bought it and nothing can be done now..so instead of ranting endlessly let me come back to the review.The palette contains a LOT of neutral colours..Majority of them are browns(shimmery,satin,matte,metallic,dark,light,warm and cool),dark greens,some oranges,2-3 pinks,2 blues,2 blacks,2 grays,1 silver,1 pewter and some highlights thrown in.There are 3-4 pretty duochrome colours which are my favs out of the whole palette.Pigmentation of this palette is based on the finish of the eyeshadow..Mattes are the least pigmented of the lot while the shimmer and metalllic shades are superbly pigmented! <3 Finally, if you like to wear a lot of neutrals this palette is surely going to be your favourite one.

 Likey:
       * 88 shadows in one single palette.Mostly neutrals.So great for everyday and simple muted looks.
       *Metallic and shimmer shades are so pretty and superbly pigmented.
       *Great price.
       *Awesome palette for beginners who want to experiment with a lot of looks.

No likey:
       *Lack of  bright colours(okay.. this is just my own problem.. :P this may not be a problem at all if
          you are looking for a "all neutral" kind of palette)
       *Lack of pigmentation in matte colours.some colours just refuse to show up even if i overload my
          brush with the shadow! black is one of them!! :/

Coastal Scents Haul

Hello everyone.. :-) please don't mind my another haul post guys.. I actually wanted to post the allcosmeticswholesale.com shopping details.But suddenly today i recieved this package and my friend noopur wanted to see the pictures.so here it is..(click pics to enlarge)

It came in a huge cardboard mailing box which was quite sturdy.I compared the box size by placing a small scissors. :P

Plenty of paper rolls were stuffed inside the box so that the items won't move while shipping.After removing those paper rolls there were two separate packages rolled in pink and white paper each.some extra items were kept separately without any extra packaging

he he.. my shiny was a bit curious about the contents :P

The pink packaging had all the brushes,mineral foundation samples and gel liner.

And the white packaging had the mirage palette,two mica samples and brush guards pack.the palette was securely packed in huge roll of bubble wrap whose 'bubbles' were also huge! :D

After unwrapping the palette i was a bit scared..you can easily guess why i was scared by looking at the pic below!

Inspite of the careful and secure packaging,an eyeshadow was broken!whole palette became so dirty due to that.

Anywayz..i cleaned it up and here is the clean pic of the palette..

This was the cute small free eyeshadow sample that CS gave me with my order.. how sweet na.. <3
