Review and Swatches: BH Cosmetics 10 Color Professional Blush Palette (With Colour Descriptions)

Hello girls :)

Today i'm going to review the "10 color professional blush palette" which i bought from BH cosmetics.

Price: $16.95 = INR 796 approximately. I bought it during a 20% off sale..so,got it for lesser price.

Finish/Formula: Various.

Packaging: Comes sealed in a cardboard box.The surface of the palette is matte and attracts less fingerprints than the shiny ones (example:120 palette).

Size comparision: I compared them with bourjois blush in "Lilas d'or"(on the left) and MAC blush in "Springsheen"(on the right).

General thoughts: As you can see,this palette contains ten beautiful shades of blushes which have different finishes.It has both warm and cool toned colours to go with wide variety of skin tones.They are not crazily pigmented which can be a plus point for heavy handed people.It is good enough to give you naturally flushed cheeks.Equally useful for both professionals as well as consumers.But,since these are not heavily pigmented,the colour is likely to get washed out in flash photography.So, if you are a professional who deals with film/fashion/theatre/any kind of  makeup which is heavy lights/flash and camera related,then this palette may not meet your needs!

PROS:

• Moderately pigmented.Which is good enough to give you naturally flushed cheeks and also a plus point for for those who are heavy handed.
• 10 colours in one compact palette.Which will be quite handy during travels or for professionals who don't want to carry 10 different bulky blush pots with them all the time.
• Price.16$ for 10 blushes is awesome.Plus they keep on having 20-40% off sales every now and then.So you'll get it at much lesser price.
• Contains both warm and cool toned colours.

CONS: 

• Lid of the palette is not secure.It does not close tightly and also it popped out from the lower part many times.I fixed it a hundred times by now(Not sure if every palette is like that.I may have got a dud!who knows!)
• Not useful for professionals who deal with makeup which goes under heavy lights/flash photography/cameras.

Final thoughts: All in all..this is a good palette for aspiring makeup artists who needs some budget friendly options to practise or start their work and also for consumers who need a well balanced palette for regular use  without spending on tons of single blushes.

Close up view of each blush & Swatches: Swatched with a thin layer of concealer as a base to make the colours show up on my hand which was quite darker than my face at that time.I took close up shots to show and explain the exact colour of the blush in the pan.

1)A matte medium brown with a hint of peach.It has tiny sparkles scattered here and there but they don't transfer on to the skin.Great as bronzer for light to light medium skintones.

2) This is a very light warm pink colour with a hint of peach.I has a satin finish.This is my favourite out of the lot. <3 Loos so flattering on very fair to light warm skintones.

3) Very light cool toned frosty silvery purply pink colour.This colour is one of the most unflaterring ones out of the lot.It makes anyone look sick,pale and bruised! yuck!

4) a medium peachy pink colour.It has a satin finish.This looks so flattering on fair to medium skintones.It's my 2nd favourite.

5) A light brown with hints of mauve and gray with satin finish.It has lots of tiny sparkles but most of them do not transfer on to the skin.This is the least pigmented one.This is the also a very unflattering colour for most skintones.But this may work as a great contour colour for people with very pale cool toned skin.

6) A bubblegum pink colour with satin finish.It will suit cooler skintones better.

7) A matte warm rose colour with brown undertones and a hint of peach.

8)A bright peach colour with silvery sheen and some fine silver shimmer.

9)A matte medium fuschia colour.It is not overly bright.So don't get scared by looking at the pan.

10) A warm brown colour with very strong peach undertones.It has satin finish.This is my 3rd favourite.Works great as a bronzer on medium skintones.

BH Cosmetics '28 Color Neutral Eyeshadow Palette' Review and Swatches

Hi everyone :)

Today i'm going to review and swatch the "28 Color Neutral Eyeshadow Palette" which i bought from BH Cosmetics.

Price: $18.95 = INR 880 approximately.But i bought it during a 20% off sale..so i got it for a bit lesser price.

Ingredients: 

Package: Comes sealed in a carboard box.The surface of the palette is matte and attracts less finger prints than the shiny ones.

This palette consists of 28 neutral eyeshadows which are quite useful for those who love and live on neutrals.

Size comparision with MAC eyeshadow in "vanilla": 

General thoughts: Most of them are decently pigmented.DO NOT EXPECT MAC/INGLOT/BEN NYE/SLEEK/SUGARPILL  LEVEL OF PIGMENTATION / TEXTURE! Yes..these are a lot less pigmented than them and the texture is hard when compared to those eyeshadows.Also some 'matte' and 'matte with micro glitter' kind of eyeshadows feel chalky and are very poorly pigmented.So, it is a must to use a good eyeshadow base which helps in intensifying the colour and also prevents the fallout of micro glitter which are present in some shadows.The best shadows from this palette are those which have 'shimmer' and 'pearl/soft metallic' finish.They are very well pigmented when compared to mattes.Last but not the least..This palette lacks a basic matte black eyeshadow!!!

PROS: 

• 28 neutral colours in one single palette.
• Great palette for beginners.
• 'shimmer'/ 'soft metallic finish' colours are very well pigmented.
• Affordable.

CONS:

• Mattes feel a bit hard and less pigmented.They definitely need a base to make them more intense.
• Lacks a basic matte black eyeshadow.
• 'Matte eyeshadows with microglitter' are the ones with worst pigmentation.

Rating: 5.5/10


Final thoughts: All in all,this palette is best for beginners who want to try out a cheaper option to decide the best colours for them before investing in the little bit more pricey ones OR for people who want to practice and improve their skills without shelling big bucks.So,if you are in no need of improving any skills/deciding shades,then you better invest in much better options like Sleek i-divine eyeshadow palettes(The best!)/Coastal scents hot pots/Ben nye eyeshadows/Sugar pill eyeshadows/Inglot eyeshadows(Freedom system is the best) which are low-moderately priced and if you have no problem with shelling out big bucks,then you probably what your options are..right? ;)

SWATCHES: I divided the palette in to four parts and swatched accordingly with a creamy concealer as base (2-3 swipes each).

I'm back! and some sharing..

Hi everyone :)

I'm so happy to be back after little more than a month :) Finally.. got my broad band connection today.Even if the connection was back much more earlier i wouldn't have been able to start blogging because of some awful stuff that happened in my life..

Due to my dad's transfer i had to leave my baby.."Shiny" whom i loved more than anyone else in this world <3 :,((  She was our neighbour's pup but right from day 1 she grew up in our home.I fed her,cleaned her poop and pee,was awake the whole night when she was sick and most importantly she is one of the reasons why i'm alive today!(more on that later).She bought the sunshine back in to my otherwise dark life.Now that she is not with me anymore it feels like the darkness is back again. :(

This is  "Scooby".He was our neighbour's doggy too.He was a real hero! I loved him a  loooottt.. <3 :((

"Aishu" the first ever kitty i ever played with.. is no more :,((  I was always scared of cat's because of their razor sharp claws. Butthe moment i saw her, i instantly felt like she was the most special one out of all the cat's i've seen in my grandma's home from the past 22 years.I'm missing her sooooo much :(

Due to all of this,both my mind and my heart were awfully disturbed that i wasn't even eating and sleeping properly all these days.After so much of emotional struggle i'm trying to get back to normal with enormous hopes that pretty soon god will send me back to my baby and will bring the sunshine back in to my life.

I know that she'll be sitting in our balcony just like this and waiting in a hope that i'll walk through the gate and hug her tightly....

Please pray for us guys..we NEED each other.. :(

Photo Tutorial: How to Recreate Drew Barrymore's Look

Hi friends :-)

Today i'm doing a tutorial showing you how to recreate drew barrymore's purple smokey eye which she is wearing in this picture:

This is the reference pic my friend Fathima sent me.

So on to the tutorial..

I'm so sorry for the blurry pictures :( It was cloudy and the lighting was bad and dark.Hence the unclear pictures.

Step 1: I first primed my lids with an eyeshadow primer and then i used a concealer as an eyeshadow base to help in intensifying the less pigmented eyeshadows.

Step 2: Take a shimmery medium purple eyeshadow (If you have a bit lighter purple than this then use that one instead) and apply it tot he middle of the lid leaving the outer and inner 1/4ths of the lid.Take this colour slightly above the crease(slightly above than what you are seeing in the pic.I realised later that i should go a little above and i adjusted it afterwards.) 

Step 3: Now take a frosty golden/silvery pink colour (i opted for golden pink) and apply it to the inner corner.I applied a bit of it over the purple colour to make it lighter and more frosty.You may skip that if you have a nice  frosty medium purple colour.

Step 4: Next take a matte mid-dark purple colour  and apply to the outer 1/4th of the lid and blend it inwards with  the lighter purple colour.

Step 5: Take a blending brush and blend the purple in to the crease and all the way inwards (you will be able to see the effect in step 7)

Step 6: Now apply the same matte purple,frosty purple and golden pink to the lower lashline in same order as on the lid.Blend the harsh edges.

Step 7: Now take a matte black eyeshadow and apply it on the outer V of the lid and on outer 1/4th of lower lashline too.blend them with the purple colour.Make sure to blend it a bit inwards in to the crease.

Step 8: Now take a bit more of the purple on a soft pencil brush and dab it on the back of your hand to remove any excess shadow.Then apply it with light short strokes starting halfway above the crease going inwards towards the brow.Blend it.

Step 9: Apply a black kohl on both the waterlines.

Take a matte eyeshadow close to your skintone and use it to add a finished look to the browbone and to blend any harsh eedges (you can use your regular compact powder too) Finally add two coats of any mascara of your choice and our eye makeup is finished! Here is how it looks:

Now on to the face..
Drew has very flawless natural luminous skin in this pic.So to mimic that i applied a natural finish foundation,concealed my blemishes and applied a soft irredicent gold powder to my T-zone.(If you have oily skin like me then you need to set the foundation and concealer with powder prior to applying the highlighter) Do not apply a shimmery or glittery highlighters.Apply something that merges with the skin and makes it look naturally radiant..like lit from within. And then apply a matte/satin bronzer to the hollows of your cheek and blend it upwards and inwards.

In case you are wondering,that huge scar on the left of my face is a birth mark and i kinda love it because it looks like a leopard print tatto :P :D It is a slightly more darker in real life <3

And drew has very pale lips naturally which i don't obviously.So to reduce the pigment and make them look slightly paler i used two lip pencils.

First i applied a light bubblegum pink lip pencil lightly and smudged it with my fingers.You can use a more warmer peachy pink too.

Then i took a peachy nude lip pencil and applied it on top.

Finally to recreate that glowy shiny pout i applied a sheer pale gold lipstick mainly near the cupids bow and center on the lower lip.Then i blended it lightly on to the rest of the lip.

So here is the final look:

Sorry for the bad pose wala pic.It was cloudy and the lighting was low and bad.So this was the only best pic i could find among a ton of  pics i took.

I was feeling a bit adventurous so i went ahead.. intensified the eyes with more black eyeshadow..and painted my pout red! I actually used a deep chocolate brown lipstick allover the lips and used a cherry red lipstick on the cupids bow and center of the lower lip.But i guess my camera was in a bad mood and it picked it up as a single red colour! grrr!! but anywayz.. i quite liked this one more than the nude lip one! <3

I hope i succeeded at recreating drew's look..though not as good as the original one :D

1. Ben nye banana visage poudre(To set my foundation and undereye concealer)
2. Eve pearl salmon concealer trio (To correct dark circles)
3. Yaby liquid foundation in "Custard" (to the T-zone and apples of cheeks)
4. Yaby liquid foundation in "Honey" (to the rest of the face)
5. MAC prolongwear concealer in "NC35(to conceal dark circles and blemishes)
6. TKB trading mica powder in "Silken gold" (To thighlight the T-zone,apples on cheeks and slightly to the inner part of the under eye circles to disguise them)

Eyes:

1. Too faced shadow insurance. (to prime my lids)
2. Oriflame dual skin corrector in "medium" (as an eyeshadow base)
3. Golden pink eyeshadow from coastal scent's "88 metal mania palette" (on the inner corners of the eye)
4. Matte mid-dark purple from sleek "Curacao" i-divine palette. (on the outer 1/4th of the lid)
5. Ben nye eyeshadow in "Royal purple" (on the middle of the lid)
6. Ben nye eyeshadow in "Banana" (on the browbone)
7. Oriflame "Lash explosion" mascara.
8. MAC eye kohl in "Smolder"

Cheeks and Lips:

1. Sleek blush in "Sahara" (as bronzer)
2. Sleek sheer cover lipstick in "Silk" (to add sheen and highlight the lips)
3. Bourjois lip pencil in "Rose precieux" (buble gum pink liner)
4. Graftobian eye liner pencil in "Natural" (peachy nude liner)
